After many years dabbling all different mediums of art - I finally found my favorite type of art - quite late in life in fact- mid-40's! It's one of those fervent, excited bubbly feelings that burst out of one's soul and has to create until it's completed. After watching a TV show of a professional illusionist on a TV talk show, suddenly I had this deep urge go to make a diorama for Eric Ross.... to show appreciation of his unique magic tricks. The reason I like his tricks is that he believed in making standard tricks "even better". Somehow I found his website and asked if I could send him a gift, he said sure. After about 2 and half weeks later, I completed my first diorama. I studied a lot of his videos, his messages, his tattoos, his personality. Paid attention to details in the creating process depicting his personality/likes/talents. Four months later, I got his email and he stated that he loved it and said I captured his essence perfectly. That made me so happy.
Created my first fairy house around 2020- burnt my fingertips a lot from the glue gun! ;D I collected a lot of sticks from many of my walks in nature. Took me 3 months with many errors. Being dyslexic, I built things backwards sometimes! Funny to look back. Learned lessons quickly that way. Note to self: BUILD the foundation, such as a floor FIRST and then put the walls or roof later.
This took me about 12 hours or more to create. I enjoyed creating this cute crystal store and gifted it to someone. Learned my lesson to never send fragile dioramas through the mail as a lot of things broke and got damaged no matter how carefully the Fed Ex manager packed it for me. So, from now on, if a customer wants it, has to pick it up themselves.
This 3-D card I made for my brother who retired from the army. As a Warrant Officer III, it was a big deal and I couldn't celebrate his retirement due to Covid. So sent him this telling him that since I couldn't go to his party, I sent the party to him. He liked it. It's challenging to use with what I had. Being on a strict budget, I had to only buy few basics to match his career, otherwise, the rest was all from what I've saved over the years and upcycled or recycled.
